Noah’s Flood

Noah's Flood

Noah's Flood Explained

Sin continues after Cain and Abel . . .

By this time, the humanity God had created in his image had utterly disappeared, and the world became corrupt, filled with nothing but evil.

God is full of compassion and mercy, slow to anger, filled with unfailing love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6), who had demonstrated these characteristics to Cain, Adam, and Eve by creating the perfect place called Garden of Eden.

However, after the world began to populate, the evil that did not come from God had befallen upon not only these three but now plagued the entire world.

God’s love is powerful, but his anger is equally matched, as the “wisest king to have ever lived” King Solomon once said, “Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

God’s fearful wrath is demonstrated and, as history record shows, Noah’s Flood. Out of all the evil, God sees Noah as the only one righteous and worthy of being saved. So, God gives Noah an instruction to build a large Arc large enough for his family and two of each kind of animal on earth. Noah obeyed and followed God’s instructions while at the same time warning others about the impending doom, but no one listened and went about their business.

(Matthew 24:38) For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away,

God poured down the rain from heaven and beneath the ground for 40 days and 40 nights, exactly five months from the time the flood began, the boat came to rest on the mountains of Ararat (Genesis 8:4).

NOTE:
Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth.

Before Noah’s flood took place, people lived to even 1,000 years old. However, God shortened the human life span after the flood because people continued to follow wickedness, living in a pool of sin and disobedience, corrupting the world with no end.

Although God tried tirelessly to give every opportunity for people to change and build a relationship with Him, even sending messengers to intercede, people would not listen. Instead, they almost always killed God’s messengers, following the evil ways just like Adam, Eve, and Cain. Sin/evil is the very reason for unhappiness and misery in the world and people’s lives.

However, Jesus the Nazareth, God himself, would come to earth one day so that He could transform us and give us a new life, the one God planned for everyone when he created the world from the very beginning. So the Lord would take on horrible suffering and torture, dying on the cross as a sacrificial lamb to take away the world’s sins, breaking down the walls that separated God and us,

Holy Bible

Noah's Flood (Genesis 6)

Genesis 6:9-22
(New Living Translation – NLT)

This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt. So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!

“Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.

“Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.”

So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.
